Blackfen Gymnastics Club was established in 1994 and for the past 30 years, we have strived to provide a positive environment where children can learn and develop their gymnastics skills.

We work in small, safe, progressive steps to build the strength and confidence to complete skills. Foundation skills such as handstands are key to being able to do most other acrobatic moves so lots of time and preparation is done. We also focus on strength and flexibility, in order to prepare the gymnast’s bodies for completing their moves, teaching them to perform their skills to the highest possible standard. The coaches comment on their work and give advice about how they could improve, as well as giving praise for effort as well as achievements. 


We hold annual competitions within the club, where parents have the opportunity to see their gymnast in action. They present their routines to the judges, who generate a score based on their performance, and they are then compared to other children of the same age. All competitors receive a medal, as well as overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd and there are extra awards given for highest scores on an apparatus. It is always a fun, enjoyable event for all - a fantastic fund-raiser and a celebration of the children’s achievements. We also compete in external events, children are selected for this according to their ability and particularly their performance in our competition.
